Luke and I in Alaska...June 2003

This past Sunday, June 28th Luke and I celebrated 6 years of marriage. We had a wonderful weekend. Luke brought me home flowers on Friday night. On Saturday we worked some around the house, got a surprise bouqet of flowers from Mom and Dad, and then went to dinner at Cozymels. It was delicious. Luke even surprised me with Keith Urban concert tickets...yes!!!We also went to see The Proposal at the Chenal Movie theatre. It was a great movie...and very fitting for us. It was set in Alaska, which is where we spent our honeymoon some 6 years ago. It's been an amazing 6 years and I can't wait for many more years together!

Sweet Lily and her Bunny!

I knitted Lily a bunny baby a little while ago. I had a blast making it and I was hoping she would love it. Christylee came by this afternoon and Lily held onto her rabbit....even carrying it in her teeth! It made me feel so good to know she loved it. Maybe she'll like it as much as I did my Cindy (my doll I slept with forever, who even went to Alaska with us on our honeymoon! Don't worry though, now she resides in my sock drawer...it was a sad day the day I retired her to the socks!). Christylee and I went to Walmart, and I had a blast pushing Lily in the cart....I'm so blessed to be an Aunt!!!
Just for kicks I thought I'd put Cindy on the blog. This doll is named after Cinderella...she is a 2 sided doll, but I just liked this side. My poor Grandma had to sew her eyes and mouth I don't know how many times....not to mention repairing her dress. The backside of her head has bald spots where I used to scratch it at night. I remember the thread of her head being cold, and I would scratch it until I fell asleep. Hopefully Lily's bunny one day will be as loved as my old Cindy still is!

A Buggy Rescue

This morning when I let Madison out, I found a Katydid Bug (however you spell that) on its back with legs just a going. I couldn't let the poor little fellow die like that. Plus I had never seen one alive! So I picked him up and put him on one of my plants. I was able to get a few pics of him. Luke says he'll probably die there...and I have to admit he's pretty brown now, but at least no one stepped on him! I just can't stand to see things suffer!!!

Last night we had a smaller group than normal...but that didn't stop our production! Mom turned in a beautiful quit and Melanie Green turned in her first knitted shawl! Penny was working on a beautiful lap robe that someone will just adore. Cindy, Bennie, and I are still working on shawls too! We talked and had a wonderful time of prayer and fellowship. I'm so blessed by these wonderful ladies!

Branson 2009 Trip

We had a wonderful time this past week in Branson, MO. Luke and I left for Branson on Monday morning. After dropping MadisonMurphy off at Dr. Mike's we were all ready to go! We ate a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We drove directly to Springfield. I was able to hit a scrapbook store and even a couple of yarn shops. Luke went to a camera store and Bass Pro. We met back up for dinner at the Mexican Villa Restaurant...it was pretty good for a hole in the wall place. We were able to check into our hotel at the Holiday Inn. It was strange for us to be right off of 76...usually we stay on some of the back routes.

We got up on Tuesday morning and headed to Silver Dollar City- my most favorite place in the world! I was so excited...it's my first time here since last June...in 2 REAL SHOES!!! It's Kids Fest going on and there were kids everywhere! We were able to go to the Culinary Craft Museum and take a cooking class. They were making Dreamy Cool Desserts. Luke and I tried the Lemon Chiffon Pie and the Strawberry Frozen Dream. They were both great! The baked oatmeal almost made me gag though...and Luke and I both got tickled at that! It wasn't near as good as Taste of Home, but we did get to eat some sweets though! Luke was really upset that we didn't get to see Peter Gossamer....he's a magician we saw last year....it was really cheesy! I told him if he really wanted to go, we could....but we didn't! We ate lunch at a Pizza buffet in Silver Dollar City. I even got to pet bunnies at SDC. Luke took some pics of that (which I don't have). I'm just glad the guy didn't give me the solid white one....it would have reminded me of my little GingerMarie! Our last stop was the mill...where I picked up a loaf of French Bread and a new small whisk. It was getting hot and humid so we left around 3. We headed back to the hotel for a nap!

We ate dinner Tuesday night at the Bandanna's BBQ Place. It's always so good. The ribs were to die for!!! Luke didn't care for their friend corn...it wasn't that great! We went by the Tanger Mall for some shopping. I went into Carters to see what I could find for Lily's birthday coming up in September. I found the cutest dress...and a WAY COOL bib....it says, "My AUNTIE loves me!!!" I couldn't believe it. I was able to pace myself and just get away with 1 outfit and 1 bib. She may get it before her birthday, but we shall see! We were able to get our Christmas shopping done as well as Father's Day and a birthday...not too shabby!

Wednesday morning we were up bright and early again! We ate breakfast in the hotel and headed out to shop. We hit the Red Roof Mall for several kitchen items, a new dress shirt for me, and some Crocs for both of us. I know what you're thinking...didn't she break her toe in a Croc??? Yes I did, but trust me these are safe for my little toes! We ate lunch at Steak and Shake....my favorite burger of all time! Their fries are so good too! We headed back to the hotel for a nap (shopping is hard work) and even went swimming for a while.

Wednesday evening we hit the Branson Landings. We ate dinner at the White River Fish House....by Bass Pro. It was really good and it was so neat to look out over the water while we ate. I got the Coconut Shrimp and Luke had the Pan Fried Trout. Both were to die for! We shopped the landings....and even went to Lids where Luke got a hat. They were having an "inventory reduction" sale, so we got 5 hats for the price of one...don't ask me how that worked! We came home around 11 and were worn out. My toe was really giving me fits....so we settled in for the night watching some HGTV.

Today we headed out of Branson by 8:30 and were there to pick Madison up at noon! We have everything unloaded and I'm working on laundry. It has been a wonderful vacation. A little early celebration to our 6 years of marriage! Love you Luke!

A New Recipe and Sunset (lots of posts below!!!)

I made Nick's Bunco Buns for Supper.....here's the EASY recipe:
1 pkg. Hawaiian sweet Rolls
2 T. butter
2 squirts of mustard
1-2 big spoonfulls of mayonaise
1-2 big squirts of honey
Your favorite lunchmeat- I used Ham
American and Swiss sliced cheese

Melt butter, mayo, honey together. Basically you are making honey mustard, so keep adding til it tastes right to you. Slice your rolls almost in two...you are making a sandwhich. Place a small piece of cheese and meat on each roll. Spread the inside with honey mustard. Put in 9 inch round pan...and spread remaining honey mustard on the top. Bake covered at 350 for about 20 minutes until rolls are hot. Enjoy!

The Sunset!!!!

Truly a masterpiece last night! Thanks God!

Free Root Beer Float Night at Sonic!

Sonic on Military

Yummy!

Had to take a pic of the sign you know...

Drink it up!

Luke's just going to be shy!
Luke and I took advantage of the free Root beer Floats at Sonic last night.....along with every other Bentonian!!! We were able to pull right in and get ours...so we didn't really have to wait. Of course, what float doesn't go good with a chili cheese wrap???

Prayer Shawl Meeting

Carita with her bright yarn!

Jodi's Shawl

Lisa's Shawl

Vicki Fain's Shawl

Bennie Sue's Shawl

Mom's Quilt
I am always amazed at every meeting....and this one was just the same! The ladies have done some amazing work. Everyone teases me about getting their picture made, but that's just part of it! Mom made an amazing quilt, Jodi and Lisa made the same shawl pattern-but with different yarn it looked totally amazing, Bennie Sue finished her crocheted shawl, and Melanie is almost done with hers! Vicki Fain finished one and was starting on another lacy pattern that I cannot wait to try. We kept giving Carita a hard time about how bright her yarn is, but someone will love it for sure. I was able to turn in a lap robe and a multi color shawl! This is an amazing group of women using their talents to serve the Lord.

Dinner at Mom and Dad's

I'm so late in posting this! We had dinner last weekend at Mom and Dad's. We ate a feast of: brisket, baked beans, hashbrown casserole, croissants, cream cheese corn, and homemade onion rings. Mom even made 2 pies for dessert! Afterwards we played Guitar Hero. Luke was exhausted after 10 songs on the drums...so Dad and I decided to play a racing game....I'm not so good at that, but I had fun! It was a great evening!
