My Mama Told Me....you'd better shop around!
Well they have a little rebate program going. If your Picturemate doesn't use all the paper in a pack (like it's supposed to), then you can return the unused sheets and your reciept and they will mail you a check. Sweet I thought to myself. This last pack didn't use 24 sheets and why do I need 24 blank photo sheets laying around. So I found my reciept, filled out the form, and mailed my sheets in. I waited and waited....finally I called them. It's in processing they say....so I waited some more.
Well I called back after what had been 3 months. They apparently never recieved my packet. They wanted me to "resend" it in. Duh, the form said to mail ORIGINAL reciept. So I lost my reciept and my 24 sheets of paper....and no rebate in sight.
I got online to Epson and sent them a hot email. I told them that I have always used Epson and that I would be shopping around for a new printer. If you wanted the original reciept then don't tell someone to resend it!
It's kinda like when Luke and I were at Sonic and we ordered the Cheese Sticks. They only gave us 4 and it says on the menu it comes with 5....I had him re-buz the people. He really didn't want too, but it's the principal of the thing. I had to talk to the Sonic lady and yes, we did get our extra stick!
Well today, I got in the mail my $7.48 check! I was happy to say the least. It just goes to show that it's the principal of the matter. If you believe in something, you should follow it to the fullest. Thats what my Mama taught me!

Praline Chicken- Savannah Style
Alicen and Mrs. Linda have been telling me to try the Praline Chicken in the church cookbook. Well I finally did...and boy was it good! Luke didn't get to eat any right out of the oven because he worked late that night, but he did eat it for lunch the next day. He isn't a pineapple fan, but he said it was pretty good!
I only had chicken tenders on hand, so I used what I had...Grandma would be proud! The recipe is simple and easy to follow. We had green beans and scalloped potatoes with it! Thanks girls...well and thanks to Stacy Norris who put this recipe in the book!
Praline Chicken, Savannah Style Pg. 242 (Of course I would love it since it's Savannah style...and who's my favorite cook??? PAULA!!!!)
4 chicken breast halves (I used 6 tenders)
4 oz. cream cheese
1 sm. can crushed pineapple
4 T. brown sugar
1/2 c. pecan pieces
1/4 stick butter
Beat breast halves until thin...enough to fold over and clasp with a toothpick. Slice cream cheese about 1/4 inch thick and place in the center of the flattened breast. Put about a teaspoon of pineapple on top of the cheese and sprinkle brown sugar over that. Fold chicken over and clasp with a toothpick. Bake 350 for 30-50 minutes.
GLAZE TOPPING:
Mix 4 T. brown sugar and 1/4 stick of butter (that's 2 T) . Stir on low heat. Add a squirt or two of honey and your pecans. Stir til it's the consistency you want. Pour over hot chicken and serve immediately!!!
It came off!!!!
I took my fake scar off this morning without a hitch! The remover smells like finger nail polish remover....Dad wouldn't like it at all! He always made me take my nail polish off outside as a teenager. One day I was trying to be cool and take it off in my room with the door closed. It was in the summertime, and when I returned home from going out with Luke...my room had been closed off from the air conditioner and the window was open!!! It was HOT!!! Aunt JJ was the only one that Dad didn't fuss at when taking hers off....of course that's his sister! HAHA!!! When Luke and I were first married I tried to hide it one day...then thought, "Wait I don't have to anymore!!!" I also don't have to put my dirty clothes back in my suitcase anymore when traveling....that's another LONG story!!!
Anyway. Back to the scar....it came off so easy! Like taking off a band aid! I had to use the remover twice. I'm hoping we can reuse the scar too, so I placed it on wax paper for storage. Enough about my fake wounds for now. This was a fun experiment which will help out the backstage people for sure.
Oh, if you haven't been to the Kingdom website you need to check it out. Many of the backstage people are keeping blogs too! It's a wonderful ministry!!!! If you ever want to volunteer to help out we can use you!!! The Lord will bless you and your time for helping out....trust us! We have made so many wonderful friends!
You can also find pictures that we use for inspiration as well as other cool stuff! http://thekingdom.gsfbc.org/default.aspx

Ok, so that didn't work
So today, I decided to do it a bit differently and add an actual scar to my knee. I traced the outline of the scar on my leg and applied to glue. I applied it twice to my leg....especially around the outside of the scar. I also applied it to the scar.
I let it dry completely and then I stuck it on. I don't think it's going anywhere....we hope! See how it wrinkled when I moved my leg? Let's hope this work for Walter!

I have a horrible knee wound!!!!
** Notice that little white bottle...that's the "glue" see how big the remover bottle is?? Yep, the HUGE clear one....wonder what that means!?!
Just kidding! Mom and I got Walter's makeup in the mail today and I couldn't wait to play in it. We are hoping that this new stuff will work great for his "wounds." I applied a nail hole to my knee and used some other makeup stuff to make it look real. Now imagine in TFDL (twenty feet dim light) how this will look on him.
Step 1: Apply Graftobian adhesive to the "scar" and where you want to place the "scar". Allow to dry.
Step 2: Apply the "scar" to the "scar" site and it sticks! I have had it on all day and it hasn't moved.
Step 3: We applied some Blood Powder to the scar and the area around it. Then we took a damp towel and hit my leg...which made the road rash type look. Don't worry, Mom didn't beat me and I am fine....just caused a great effect I think!
I am going to leave it on my leg to see how long it will stay....and actually how hard it will be to get off...who knows! If this makes life easier on Walter backstage I'm all for it and don't mind being the guinea pig at all! This is too much fun!

My painful Ears
Happy Belated Valentine's Day
Our Valentine's Cards
My BBQ Man
My cheesecake muffins...not much to look at!
Lovely pic of us....me in my PJ's and no makeup!
Our dinner, doesn't look like a lot but it was good!
Luke and I celebrated Valentines on Saturday night. He had been sick all week with an upper respiratory infection, and I didn't think steaks would be too good when you are sick. Luke grilled fillets and we had loaded baked potatoes. We had Chocolate Cheesecake Muffins for dessert. I used the recipe on the back of the New York Cheesecake Hershey Kisses (they are TOO good). The cheesecake turned out ok...they were supposed to be in little mini muffin tins, but I didn't want to mess with that. So, I did the big muffin tins. The chocolate part was a little dry but the cheesecake made up for it. We watched Underdog...which was too cute. We also watched Tyler Perry's Why did I get Married? It was a wonderful movie. Of course, anything with Tyler Perry we just love. You could see some Madea coming out in parts on the movie. I would really reccommend it. Well enjoy the pics.

The wonderful people of TK '08
Regina, Mary Sue, and Mom
Regina, Me, and Mary Sue
The lovely robes we have left til Sunday
Is that in the Bible?
Working on the Kingdom is a wonderful ministry. The Lord blesses our time in so many ways I cannot possibly begin to name them all. One way He blesses us is through our friendships. I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Mary Sue Brashears and Regina Edmonson and Mom in costuming the choir. We have had so much fun. They are wonderful ladies and a hoot to work with. While costuming the choir, we found ourselves saying the same things over and over again: "No, you cannot wear your glasses." "You are just Jerusalem Jesus People" "This isn't the Jerusalem Gap!" "No tennis shoes, either bare feet or Jerusalem type sandals." "Let's see if we can find you a costume in a lovely shade of gray....they were almost all gray!" Most of the choir members were great to work with and others....well we had to explain, "No, there isn't a costume that will look great on you, because they are all robes!"
Needless to say it was a lot of fun. I think the funniest thing was when Mary Sue said, "Well, what do they think we are doing eating fabric and pooping out costumes?" That's what they are laughing about in that first picture. Mom said, "Here Mary Sue you have a string on your mouth!"

Ok, so I said I'd never do it again....but....
Ingredients
Salt
1 head garlic
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), for drizzling
1 medium eggplant, ends removed, peeled and cut into small chunks
2-3 medium zucchini, ends removed, cut in half lengthwise and into small chunks
2 red bell peppers, cored and cut into small chunks
1 large onion, cut into small chunks
4 sprigs thyme, leaves removed
Freshly ground black pepper
1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes
1 pound whole wheat penne
1/2 cup Italian parsley, chopped
1/2 cup grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese (a large handful), plus more to pass at the table
Preparation
Pre-heat the oven to 450ºF. Place a large pot of salted water over high heat and bring to a boil.Cut a sliver off the top of the garlic head just large enough to expose the cloves. Tear off a large square of foil and place the garlic in the center. Drizzle a small amount of EVOO over the head and wrap the foil up around it. Place in the oven and roast until golden brown and tender, about 45 minutes.
While the garlic is roasting, cut up the veggies and place everything except the tomatoes on a large baking sheet along with the thyme leaves.Once the garlic has been roasting for about 15 minutes, drizzle the veggies with EVOO and season them with some salt and freshly ground black pepper. Roast them in the oven until tender and caramelized, about 30 minutes.
Once the veggies have been in the oven for about 10 minutes, place the tomatoes onto another baking sheet, drizzle them with EVOO and season them with some salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss them into the oven with the other veggies and roast them until they’ve burst and shriveled up slightly, 15-20 minutes.
Once the veggies have about 10 minutes left to go, drop the pasta into the boiling water and cook to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the cooked pasta, reserving a cup of the pasta cooking liquid, and transfer to a large serving bowl.
Once the garlic is done roasting, allow it to get cool enough to handle, then hold the head in your hand over the serving bowl with the pasta and squeeze out all of the roasted cloves into the bowl. Add the reserved pasta water, roasted veggies, tomatoes, parsley and grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese to the bowl and toss it all to combine.Pass some additional Parmigiano Reggiano at the table alongside the bowl of pasta.
*** Of course, I never seem to follow it to a "T"...so I did a green bell pepper instead of a red one. The red ones were 3 bucks a piece at Walmart....no thanks! I think some bacon mixed in would add the saltiness it needs. Oh, and I didn't add the thyme either...just plain old salt and pepper! I didn't buy the grape tomotoes either...just 3 roma ones....roasted them and mashed them a little and roasted for about 2-3 more minutes.
***I even roasted 2 heads of garlic. I took and softened 1 stick of butter and added 1 head of roasted garlic to that butter. Then I spread it on some french bread. The roasted garlic is easy to do and SO good...just roast and squeeze it out!
