The Memphis Zoo
Luke and I love to go to the Memphis Zoo. We went for the day yesterday and had a blast! The only thing I don't like about going to Memphis is crossing the Mississippi River!!!! When I was kid, we were the last ones to cross that bridge the year that it flooded. I was terrified...and have been ever since! When we do cross that bridge, there is NO talking and it's 10 & 2!!!
Anyways, back to the zoo. I was able to walk through the Cats Exhibits but then it was a wheelchair after that! The animals look so happy at the Memphis Zoo unlike the one in Little Rock. Luke and I ate at the Wild Cats Cafe AKA BackYard Burger for lunch. I took tons of pictures...and Luke did too! I even got some MeerCats for Ann....I know she loved that show on TV!
We left the zoo and headed to find the Archivers store. It is SO nice...I didn't spend a penny though (we were on a budget). It's even right next to Gordmans...and I didn't even go in. Now that's some self control! After snacking at TCBY we headed home. It was a LONG day! I had a blast. If you notice in one of the pictures I'm wearing a Therma Care heat wrap. I have developed a Crick (however you spell that) in my neck. Today it's completely on my right side. I'm thinking it has to do with my shoe! Thank God for heating pads!!!
Well enjoy the pics. We stopped at an Archaeological Museum on the way home. It was interesting and in the middle of NO where! I would have loved to take the tour but it was a 3/4 mile walk...no thanks in this shoe! We had a great time. Thank you Luke!!!

A $5.00 Meal!
The Peach and Blueberry Cobbler (recipe at the bottom)
Purple Hull Peas
Soon to be stewed taters and fried okra
Luke brought me home flowers! I love them!!!
My PaPa used to say that some meals were considered a $5.00 meal. Now that doesn't necessarily mean it actually cost 5 bucks, but that it was a great meal! I considered our meal tonight to be a 5 dollar meal! We are having a Rotisserie Chicken I picked up at Kroger, Fried Okra, Stewed Potatoes, and Purple Hull Peas. For dessert I made a new recipe- a Peach & Blueberry Cobbler. It looks really good! I have been doing a Beth Moore study at church and am loving it this week.....literally. Our topic this week has been Love or Agape. I have learned that love isn't a feeling necessarily but actions. So this meal and dessert especially are to thank Luke for all his hard work today on his "Honey-Do" list. Love ya babe!
Super-Easy Peach and Blueberry Cobbler
4 1/2 c. Frozen Sliced Peaches (I used the fresh ones I froze a while back...thanks Amy!!!)
2 c. blueberries
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar, or to taste
1 T. plus 1 t. of cornstarch
1 T. fresh lemon juice
1 (7.5 oz can) biscuits
Milk for brushing the tops of the biscuits
Sugar for sprinkling the biscuits
Arrange a rack in the center of the oven. Preheat to 450 degrees. In a saucepan, combine the peaches, blueberries, water, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Top with biscuits and brush those with milk. Sprinkle biscuits with sugar (I added a little cinnamon to the top). Bake until biscuits are brown and it's bubbling.
Fireproof
Last night Luke and I went with Jason and Alicen to see the movie Fireproof. It has Kirk Cameron in it....all I can say is WOW!!! I would highly recommend it! It was worth the money and had a wonderful message. We also ate at Grandpa's Catfish. The food was awesome...and smelled great too in the car! LOL!!! Our car smelled like fries and pickles after the movie. That made us all laugh. We are truly blessed to have friends like Jason and Alicen. I'm so glad they had a wonderful time in Disney for their anniversary. It made Luke and I want to go there someday soon! Thanks guys for a wonderful double date!

My Title. The letters are a pink metallic paper. I like this!!!
I got the Cricut Design Studio a while back and have loved it. I made this title for my Garvan Gardens page I'm going to scrapbook a little while from now. I just layered paper and used the Design Studio to make this title!

I'm 75% healed!
I went to see Dr. Walsh today about my toe. They took another X-ray...the good news is I'm 75% healed! He moved me out of that huge boot and into the shoe I was originally fitted for. Let me just say I am going to have to work at getting my calf muscle back....this brings a new look to the word chicken leg! I have to wear this shoe for another 2 solid weeks then gradually start trying a tennis shoe. I will see him again in 4 weeks! Looks like the treadmill and Tyndall park are still a ways off...oh well!

Ta da!!!
I'm really surprised he did this! LOL!
This is the eternal flame for veterans....Luke said this is where the homeless roast hot dogs! He's too funny!
After the Hot Springs Balloon Festival, Luke and I came home for a nap. Then we went downtown to look around and of course take some pictures. We went to the Big Dam Bridge first...I had never seen it. It's a big bridge. I really wanted to walk at least to the top...but didn't even make it halfway in my boot. Oh well maybe later. Then we went on downtown to the Capital for some pics. I forget from time to time how pretty that building really is. We finished off the evening with dinner at Buffalo Grill...who doesn't need a greasy burger and fries every now and then!
The Hot Springs Balloon Festival
Luke said this should be his ride to work!
Luke at TJ's....I mean Jasons!
Thank you Lord for hair that curls when it's humid....well not really!
This pie was SOOOOOOOO good!
Luke and I got up on Saturday morning and headed down to Hot Springs for their Balloon Festival, Car Show, and BBQ Cook-off. It was a long walk to the car show, but I made it! We were actually looking for the balloons....can you believe they didn't have any??? It was too cloudy or something for the balloons to be out. Go figure! My Uncle JR would have loved the car show. I took a few pics just for him!
After the car show Luke and I headed for some lunch. We stopped at ate at Jasons Burgers and More in Hot Springs....or TJ's as our friend Randy calls it!!! We got the catfish dinners. I got a salad and beans. Luke got his with HOMINY (GROSS!!) and beans. We also split a piece of Carmel Pecan Pie...which was really good.
Scrap Mania Salty Crop
Friday night was another night of fun for the Scrap Mania Scrappers at Geyer Springs. We always have a blast when we get together to scrapbook. It's a lot of fun and great fellowship. Mrs. Martha Sue gave us a wonderful devotion on how to let God rule our lives. It was just great! We ate to our hearts content too on the salty snacks everyone brought! I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful ladies! I think we had about 21 in attendance! I think I missed Carrie's table with the pics....I'm sorry girl!
I'm an Aunt Part Who knows!
Little Miss Lily Mailee Lo
Mrs. Nancy and Lily
Sweet little yawns
Mommy and Baby!
I went to the hospital on Friday to see how Christylee was doing. She seemed to be more awake than the last time I saw her. I almost cried when I saw that Lily was wrapped up in the blanket I made for her. Mrs. Nancy told me that when Christylee first saw Lily that was the next thing she asked for. I held Lily to my hearts content...well until Mrs. Nancy got there. I stayed most of the day visiting with Christylee and her Mom and of course little Lily. She is just a miracle! I can't believe on her birthday there were 13 other babies born....12 of them were little girls and only 1 boy!

Our first look at Baby Lily
Mrs. Nancy seeing Lily on the camera for the first time!
I went to St. Vincents today to see Christylee. At 11 she was still 1 cm. I'm thinking this could take a while! So, I visited with Mrs. Nancy and Mr. Jerry for a little bit. I stayed til about 2 then decided to head on home. I got to Alexander on my way home to Benton and Mrs. Nancy called. They were doing an emergency C-Section because the baby's heart rate dropped. So, I turned around and went back! They ended up having to completely knock Christylee out to deliver baby Lily. Her cord was wrapped around her neck. Baby Lily is doing great and weighed in at 7lbs!!! I stayed until I could go back and see how Christylee was doing. She's in a lot of pain and not up for many visitors right now...which is completely understandable!!! I left the hospital at about 4:30 or so. I never did get to see Lily in person, but I did get to take a few pics. Maybe tomorrow I can see Mommy and Baby together! That would be wonderful! Welcome into the world Baby Lily!
