Pinky just chillin'

Ann, Margaret, Selena, and I all went to our annual Croppin' 4 kids Crop to benefit Easter Seals. We had a wonderful time as usual. I think I was able to get 14 double pages done. Friday we cropped from 9-midnight and Saturday it was from 9-9. I was exhausted by the time I got home on Saturday. The food was wonderful and the goodies were abundant! We were able to all get our pics taken with Pinky...the pink monkey...after finishing pages...we didn't win a prize though 8(. Oh well. I'm truly blessed to have wonderful friends to scrapbook with!

My Stylish New Shoe!

Somehow this shoe reminds me of the old black velcro shoes my PaPa used to wear WAY back in the day! I'm thinking of adding a flower or some diamonds to jazz it up...what do you think? I may just leave it plain old black. Don't look too closely at my toes...trying to paint numb toes was a trick! I am just happy to be able to hobble around without crutches...my pits thank me too!

It's not Broken!!!

I went to see Dr. Walsh this morning to have him look at my X-rays and my foot. He seems to think it's a Neuroma (spelling?). In other words the nerves that run to each of my toes...especially my big toe is inflamed. That would explain the swelling and numbness I have in my big toe! So for the next 3 weeks I'm in a lovely new black shoe. It's very stylish and comfy...NOT!!! But it beats having to be on crutches. I'm still using those til I can stand on my own two feet again! He put me on Steroid pills instead of giving me the shot....I can stand a needle, and even a shot in the butt....but one in my toe that he was just mashing all over...No thanks! I'll have to post pics of my new shoe on here soon!

Lessons Learned from Crutches

So in 2 days I have learned some valuable lessons from my crutches. Thought I'd share:
1. It does take longer to get from the bed to the bathroom on crutches...so timing is a key!
2. I think there should be a crutch marathon in the Olympics....it is definetly a workout!
3. You know you've been on them long enough when the dog gets out of the way (of course that's only because I almost stepped on Madison yesterday)
4. You do get winded easily on crutches...just going from the living room to the scrapbook room is a chore.
5. It is better to leave a glass of water at every place you may sit during the day...there is no carrying anything but yourself on crutches!
6.Last but not least, when you are on crutches you must eat. I learned that early this morning when my sugars got too low and my head had a run in with the tile floor. I think I scared Luke more than myself! But thankfully after Cheerios, a Krispy Kreme doughnut, and a spoonful of peanut butter I was back to myself in no time!

Just call me Grace....right Alicia???

My old high school friend has teased me about being a klutz since the 8th grade. We went on a trip to dig for Chrystal's...somehow Christylee stayed home for that one...and I ended up tripping on something. Well the name Grace still applies to me today! It appears that after the wild time I had on Monday night at Selena's I somehow managed to fracture my big toe! Go figure! I tripped a little bit at Selena's on Monday but didn't think much about it at the time. Well Thursday and Friday it really started hurting. This morning I went to see the Dr. and sure enough it's fractured! So, I'm on crutches until Monday when I can see the Ortho guy. My pits are SO sore!!! Poor Luke...at my beckon call all the time now...he HATES that I'm sure! I'm sure over the next 6 weeks I'll be sporting a new stylish boot for my left foot! I can't even drive my car since it's a standard...so I'm stuck with Luke's. Oh the joys of being a klutz!!!

Sakura with Luke

The Menu

Luke Mr. Sakura Man

I guess that make me Mrs. Sakura Woman!

The onion volcano

We had the steak and shrimp...don't think that was on my plate yet...it was wonderful!!!
Last night Luke and I treated ourselves to Sakura here in Benton. It was wonderful...the food was super delicious as well as the show. Our table mates were a couple with 3 kids who were all Deaf. I was very impressed at how the restaurant treated them. I even had trouble not eavesdropping over their conversations. I guess my ASL in college has stayed with me. It had me thinking about going back and majoring in ASL again! Oh well. Luke and I went to Hastings to rent Drill Bit Taylor with Owen Wilson...a great movie for anyone who has ever been made fun of in school! We ended the night with Fried Ice Cream Blasts from Sonic. They were great!
