Head Lice
Gotta love my high forehead and his pink shower cap. What a picture!
I never thought about the possibility of the kids getting head lice before. Poor Asia had been complaining about her head itching for several days. I just assumed it was either for attention or she wasn't getting her hair clean. Well, I finally decided to look at it. I was so grossed out. We only found 1 bug and a few nits. It wasn't a bad case, but enough that it needed to be taken care of ASAP. Luke and I immediately googled what we needed and he ran to Walmart. I started washing everything in site. I think we did 15 loads of laundry in one night. Luke took care of doctoring Asia's hair while I held no bars back on Robert. He had a deep conditioning mayonnaise treatment with a pink shower cap all night. I even took time to do my own hair- just in case. Poor Luke has nothing to worry about though. It was a nasty but fun experience. The kids liked all the special attention they were receiving. I couldn't help but take a few pics to scrapbook.
Decorating the Tree
We set the tree up and decided it was time to decorate. It was our 2nd time of doing our 1st Tradition with the kids. This was their second time decorating the tree at our house. They loved seeing all the ornaments and hearing stories about a few of them. They were also happy to each have Christmas trees in their rooms. We got them an Olaf Ornament and Anna Ornament for Christmas this year. I'd like to do that every year- when they leave home, they'll have a whole slew of ornaments for their tree. It was a fun time. We had hot chocolate and pop corn afterward.

Halloween
This Halloween we had a very special Leonardo and Princess Sophia present. It was cold outside, so we bundled up. We had our foster/adopt group come over. We chowed down on Taco Soup, Bean Dip, Cheese Dip, Cookies, and Smores. It was such a fun time. We are so close to this group because they fully understand where we come from. The kids had fun playing in the backyard while the grownups sat around the fire pit.
Carving Pumpkins
I had forgotten how nasty it was to carve pumpkins. I think Luke and I have done it once in our married life. Well, with kids now, we have to do these kind of things. The kids loved drawing on the faces and watching Luke carve the pumpkins. It was then their turn to get all the mush and seeds out. Robert and Asia both were grossed out by the goo. We decided to roast the seeds as well. Robert hated them but Asia loved the toasted seeds. I think the pumpkins turned out cute. We had hot chocolate and cookies afterwards.

Bible Presentation
Last night at church, the first graders were all presented with their first Bible. Well, since Robert wasn't with us during this, I asked if he could be a part of it as well. It was a great service. At first, Luke and I weren't sure that the kids were going to get up on stage- they were SUPER nervous. It worked out great though. They looked precious and are so proud of their new bibles. Jeff highlighted a verse in Proverbs.
Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with your all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will direct your path."
As he was preaching on these two verses, Robert looked up to me and whispered, "I want to learn this verse on the way to school every morning." So, we'll start that for sure in the next couple of days. Asia and I talked on the way to get ice cream about what that verse meant. I told her that the Lord led me and her Daddy to her and Robert. She agreed and really wanted to learn more about the books of the bible.
Motley's Pumpkin Patch
Luke and I took the kids to the Motley's Family Pumpkin Patch. It was their first time to ever go to a Pumpkin Patch. We had an awesome time. We petted and fed lots of animals, saw a pig race, did a hayride, a maze, and ate lunch, plus picked out pumpkins. It was a full morning, but a lot of fun. The kids are excited about carving their first pumpkins.
We tried for a family selfie.
Asia photo bombed this one.
So Robert did too!
