Mount Magazine Weekend

Petit Jean Mountain

We went to Petit Jean on our way to Mt. Magazine.  The kids had never been there before.  We stopped at the overlook to take some pictures.  We then headed over to have a picnic by the visitors center.  Lunch was a hit.  We had everything you could imagine.  After lunch the kids played on the playground with PaPa.  We then went to see if the falls were....well, falling.  We have had a lot of rain but the falls were basically a slow drip.  I didn't enjoy looking over the ledge at all- still afraid of heights!  Onto Mt. Magazine....
This was the only time we saw the view from the cabin.  It was so rainy and foggy the rest of the time!

The kids had a blast in the cabin coloring together.  They played well together all weekend.  They learned how to play "War" with PaPa.  On Saturday morning in between the rain, we all went to look at the highest point in Arkansas.  It has no view, but at least the kids got some energy out!

We thought we were gonna die on the hike, but we didn't.  It wasn't very long but straight up the mountain.  A good workout for sure! After the hike, we went to see the overlook.  We actually could see something! It was beautiful!

Later in the afternoon we took our family on a hike.  I wanted to reach my step goal for the day and the kids really needed to exercise.  We went on the Bear Hollow Trail.  It was supposed to have a pond somewhere on it.  Well, the pond was more like a puddle.  After we walked that one, we did another one with a view.  I'm not for heights and the rock climbing really does a number on my knees.  I did fall, of course, but was able to finish the hike.  We had a good time enjoying nature.

Asia sure did love these glasses. They were 3D glasses she got while watching the movie Home.  They watched it again this weekend and she was certain she could see it in 3D again.  Umm...no don't think so!

Later Saturday night, the kids dressed up.  Well, Kingston did- I didn't bring our Halloween Costumes.  They had a blast going door to door in the cabin Trick or Treating.  After that, we made Smore's in the fireplace. It was a great relaxing weekend.

Oak Park Fall Festival

Luke and I took the kids Sunday afternoon to Oak Park Church.  They were having a fall festival in their gym. Robert decided to be a soccer player and Asia wanted to be a dancer.  That's great since we already had those costumes!

At first, I was afraid the kids might be too old, but considering they've never done a fall fest before, I knew they were excited.  It was wonderful.  They had all kinds of booths set up for the kids to play through.  Asia was terrified to do the cake walk by herself, so Robert went with her.  Their favorite game was Candyland.  We ate dinner there- hot dogs, chips, popcorn, and waters.  We let the kids jump in the bounce houses for a bit and then came home.  It was a fun way to celebrate Fall!

Motley's Pumpkin Patch

We had a 2nd annual tradition on Sunday.  We took the kids to the Motley's Pumpkin Patch.  We did this last year as well.  The kids had a blast.  We watched Tommy the Terrific- a magician that Luke and I thought was super cheesy- but the kids loved him! Our friend Ellen and her two boys met up with us after the show.  We took some pictures and let the kids play.  We were able to do the hayride and then go to look at pumpkins.  No trip to the pumpkin patch is complete without feeding the animals.  It was a fun, dusty day.  The kids had a good time!

Flag Football End of Season

                                                          Robert's Football Face

Robert ended his flag football season this past Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.  He had never been to an actual stadium before.  He was thrilled to play on the field.  It was so cold that morning.  Poor kid didn't wear anything but his shirt and shorts.  I felt bad for him, but it was his choice.  His team lost both games- but it was their best playing effort so far!  We are so thankful for Coach Zach and all the time he put into the Upward Volunteers.  It was a fun Saturday cheering Robert on from the sideline!
