Shooting Stars & Tutoring

Luke and I went to his work Christmas Party last Friday night. (I'll post pics later!). On the way home we saw 2 HUGE shooting stars. The kind that made everyone on the freeway hit their breaks. It was freaky and awesome all at the same time. Today, I was driving to go tutor my little girl and listening to Christmas music when I started to think about those shooting stars. Can you imagine how big the star over Bethlehem must have been? The same star the shepherds followed? It struck me today that even though Luke and I saw something truly awesome Friday night, it doesn't compare to what the shepherds followed. They must have truly been in awe!

My little tutor person today made me so happy! She LOVED the notebook I decorated and the flower pen. She also liked the game Twister (a little re-gift...since we got stuck with it on Friday's Dirty Santa). I told her this was something she could play with her family...and she seemed to like it. I also bought guinea pig stuff for the classroom. I wanted the little guy to be taken care of and I also used this as a tutoring lesson too. We looked up everything on the receipt to see how much I spent. Then we added and subtracted it all. The teacher was beyond thrilled to have Guinea Pig stuff.

So all in all I was blessed today in more ways than one! One by remembering the real reason of Christmas and the shooting stars, and two by a sweet little girl in the 4th grade whose eyes lit up at the sight of her name on a notebook! That is truly what Christmas is all about!!

Thank you Jaime!!!

Ok, so check out the Whimsy Tin link to the left. My friend Jaime is making these adorable buckets!!! She gave me one as a thank you and I LOVE it. I want to put a tree in it next year, but this year I used it to store my cooking stuff in it. I think it works out great! I can't wait for everyone to see it! Thanks girl!

My cricut hard at work

I helped my friend Jaime out today and made her some nametags for Evan's preschool class. I decided to use my makers and my cricut. The design studio makes it SO easy to do! I hope they worked out for ya Jaime!

ISI Christmas Party

Last night was the Christmas Party for Dad's company. We ate at Cozymel's which was SO good. My favorite of course is their tortillas....yummy! MOm and Dad has placecards for everyone to sit at. Dad even played a No Technology Game...which cost some the big bucks! Everyone won a doorprize which was really neat. We came back to Mom and Dad's for dessert and Dirty Santa. We had a great time! Thanks Mom & Dad!

Ok, so this isn't what you think! Whenever we all get together for a night on the town we always joke we've gone wild! Basically the last time we got together outside of scrapbooking....I hurt my toe...and we've seen where that's gotten me! This past Monday night we met for dinner at DiCarlos. The food was good and the service was SLOW!!! We were the only ones in the restaurant! Afterwards we all came to our house for dessert. I made Apple Cider, Gooey Pumpkin Butter Cake, and English Toffee Cheeseball, and Bon Bons. It was a great time. I can't wait again for us to get started scrapping after the holidays!

The Sweetest Gift

Christylee stopped by the other day to drop off a gift from her and Lily. Can I just say I turned to butter when I read it? I wear it all the time and LOVE it. The saying is so true. There were things I shared only with Aunt Debbi...and certain things I never told my Mom! Aunt Debbi could keep a secret too let me tell ya! I'm so thankful I included her in the wedding surprises for our parents. What a great Aunt she was! I can only hope for the day for Lily to confide in me. Ok, I'm getting teary eyed now. Gotta get this post up!

I'm right where I need to be

I went and tutored my little friend today. The Lord can speak volumes in 30 minutes let me tell you! We walked into her classroom to get her things and she showed me her new class pet....a guinea pig! Well I'm all about that considering I had one up until a year ago...and have had 2 more in the past. So that was something we could talk about right off the bat. Then, while we were counting change....she tells me she feels invisible at home. She feels like she talks and no one will listen. So, after I picked my heart up off the floor I told her that was why I was there...to listen! Today just goes to show that the Lord put me in her life for a reason (and she in mine!). I want to do little things for her every now and then to let her know she's important. I thought I'd start with a notebook I decorated with her name on it. Any other ideas? I'm completely open!
