Memorial Day at SDC

We took Kingston to Silver Dollar City for Memorial Day.  He spent Sunday night with us and then we left super early on Monday morning.  We stopped to get donuts and biscuits and gravy- at his request before hitting the road.  We visited and laughed most of the way up to Silver Dollar City.  Luke took us down 76 to get there.  When we passed the Titanic Museum- Kingston says, "I remember you telling me about this.  This was the big ship that got hit by the ice cube!"  I couldn't help but laugh, at least he is listening.

When we got to Silver Dollar City it was busy!  We headed to the reunion hall to eat BBQ.  It was their last day of the Blue Grass and BBQ Festival.  We shared pulled pork, brisket, beans, and tater salad.  It was delicious.  We then found the Barbers at the Kiddie Rides.  Kingston had a blast playing with Jett in the ball area.  He had been asking to do that since we told him we were going to Silver Dollar City. After playing, we headed to find more rides for the kids to do.  Luke, Kingston,  Blake, and Jett got in line for the American Swing.  It was a huge ride and I kept texting Luke to make sure Kingston really wanted to ride it.  Well that poor baby- his teeth were chattering when he got off the ride.  He came straight to me and said, "Issa, I don't want to ride that one again."  I told him he did a very manly thing riding that ride and probably got some new chest hair because of it.  He looked down his shirt and said, "Well it's not there yet!"

Kingston did ride other rides that he really enjoyed.  He rode with Blake and Chantel the Log Plume- which I remember riding with Dad and Chris when we were kids.  I told Kingston his Daddy loved riding that ride.  He rode the little swings with Luke as well as a roller coaster with Jett.  They had a great time together.  I enjoyed seeing Stella- who wouldn't have a thing to do with me!  Lionel is precious and of course I had to hold him.

After Silver Dollar City, we headed to the Landings to eat at Joe's Crab Shack.  Luke and I were shorted some crab in our bucket so they brought us out more. Kingston chowed down on corn on the cob and crab- that boy knows how to crack 'em!  We have so much fun with the Barbers.  I'm so thankful they are in our lives- friends that become family are truly awesome!

On the way home Kingston got TCBY with us.  We talked about our day and what all we did.  Out of the blue he started talking about Chris.  He asked about his heart and was it going to stop.  He then mentioned he wanted to go to heaven so he could see Daddy.  I reassured him that his heart was healthy and that Daddy's was sick since he was born.  I told him his Daddy would want him to live a long, healthy life!  I then asked him if I reminded him of his Daddy. Luke was squeezing my hand at that point.  I held my breath waiting for him to say something.  He said, "Oh no Issa, you're not like Daddy at all."  Well, at least he got that right!  Chris and I were night and day different!  I asked him what makes him think of Daddy.  He said, "Well at your house you have pictures up of me and Daddy."  I asked him if he wanted me to take those down and he told me no.  It reminded him of Daddy and he liked that.  He told me he doesn't talk much about Daddy to anyone else but me.  I'm thankful of that, I guess.  It's a big responsibility sharing things about Chris with Kingston.  I know though, that I can be honest with him and I really enjoy sharing stories about our childhood.  I mean I did spend 32 years of my life with his Daddy.  I sure do love his little boy!
