One More Week!

I have one more week in my boot! I go to the Dr. on the 23rd to see what he says about my poor big toe. I'm thinking it may be longer in the boot....but who knows! This boot has taught me a lot. I guess that's the Lords way of saying SLOW down! I'm usually always in a hurry to get things done....housework, grocery shopping, errands, etc. I don't like to depend on others when I can do things myself. Having the boot on, I have learned to depend a lot more on Luke and my Mom. Luke has been great in taking me to Walmart and pushing me in a wheel chair. Mom also runs errands with me...and has even pushed me around too!

I also realize how hard it is to see everything at Walmart! I mean...things are so high when you are sitting. I do realize how people can be so rude too! I have had several ladies look at me like...You can walk in that! I guess they don't realize this thing weighs 10lbs! My favorite is the people that are in such a hurry in the store...they actually think you are in their way! They usually make the one in the wheel chair move! I hope and pray that I was never one of those women...but I'm sure at times I could have been easily annoyed at having to move over out of the wheelchair's way. Thank you Lord for the friendly reminder and teaching to put others above myself!

I have also realized I now have my own weather meter. Yep, if it's going to rain...I can tell you. My toe aches like it's no bodies business! Then when the rain gets here, it stops! Go figure! Well one more week in Mr. Boot...I hope!

A New Recipe

Laura's Casserole:
2 c. cooked chicken, cut in small pieces-Save some of the juice from the cooked chicken and add it in with the milk
2 c. uncooked macaroni or noodles
2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup- I used 1 can Cream of Chicken and 1 Can cream of mushroom (the 98% Fat Free Kind)
2 c. Milk
1/2 c. onion, chopped - I didn't use this
1/4 t. pepper
3 T. butter
1 c. shredded cheese
Preheat oven to 350. Layer ingredients in the order it was given. I mixed my soups and milk and little bit of broth together. I put it in a sprayed 9x13. Bake for about 30-40 minutes. Mine took a little longer to get the noodles tender. It was really good.
I don't know who Laura is...but her casserole is great! This came out of Wanda Brunstetter's cookbook!

Grillin' and Chillin'

Sunday night Luke and I grilled outside. It was a great evening for it. We even let George come out on the patio with us...which was a big deal for Mr. George. We had burgers, beans, corn on the cob, and deviled eggs for supper! Then we settled in at the TV to watch some House of Payne episodes...if you have never seen this show it's great. It usually comes on Wednesday nights about 8 on TBS. Tyler Perry produces it and sometimes you'll catch Madea on an episode!

Saline County Fair

Mom and I went to the Saline County Fair today. The weather was perfect and cool. We looked among the arts and crafts and visited all the animals. We stopped by the EHC booth for a Homemade Chocolate Pie. Those bring back memories for sure! Thanks Mom I had fun today!

Dinner among friends

Amber and Mark

Me and Luke...it's a little blurry!

Gang's all here...well some of them were in the kitchen munching away!

One of their pretty super soft kitties!

That peanut butter pie was amazing!!!

Last night Luke and I went to a football kick-off party at Mark and Ambers house. We had a blast! Everyone there were so nice and the food was great! Amber made a wonderful homemade peanut butter pie. Her friend made an awesome still warm Carrot Cake! It was wonderful to be able to spend time with people our age who love animals! I think the next football game we may have a party at our house.

Flowers to honor Aunt Debbi

This past Sunday at church our family placed flowers to honor our Aunt Debbi at the time of her birthday. I think they turned out so pretty. Mom and I both ended up with a huge arrangement! She was my Aunt and Mom's best friend. Honoring her with yellow flowers in church is just a simple way to say she still lives on in our hearts and lives. We miss her still! I guess she has all the yellow flowers she wants now in heaven with Uncle Will! What an awesome thought!

I'm no Pioneer Woman

I sat here tonight working on some Christmas presents when the power started flickering. I should have known Mr. Gustav (as our dog BJ likes to call him....he hates it when it rains!!!) would make our power go out! So now I have every candle in the house lit...I think if smells could explode our house would be gone! I have scents from Yankee Candle that range from berries to cinnamon. On top of that I just put out Cinnamon Cider Potpourri in the house today! I am waiting on my battery to die on the laptop. Just had to say I would not make a good pioneer woman. I was able to knit a few rows before the sun went down, but I am having a hard time reading by candlelight! I also don't think I could live without air conditioner! And to think I was just thinking about fixing me a bowl of yogurt...don't want to even open the fridge now...we just bought groceries!!! Hopefully it will come back on soon. Hopefully soon I'll feel the air conditioner breeze on my face and welcome the lightbulbs shining in my eyes!

Til then....signed...Sincerely your pioneer friend,
Laura Ingalls Wilder (Did you know I was named after Melissa Gilbert who played her on Little House on the Prairie??? Guess I'm living up to my namesake tonight huh! LOL!!!)
