Motley's Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend, we took both boys to the Pumpkin Patch.  The weather was nice and cool.  We ate lunch there- chowed down on burgers, popcorn, and nachos.  The boys had a blast jumping on the giant pillow and playing on the pirate ship.  They each picked out a pumpkin and then we came home to carve it.  Kingston decided on 3 eyes and a giant mouth.  Grayson went for a more traditional look.  It was a fun afternoon.

Happy 7th Birthday Kingston

It's hard to believe you are 7.  Seems like just yesterday we were going to the hospital to await your arrival.  Luke and I fixed hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings to celebrate your birthday.  We even put up streamers in the kitchen.  At first you just wanted to eat cake- but quickly realized that you couldn't have cake without some protein first.  You were surprised to see I actually made you Minecraft cookies- just like you asked.  I also fixed chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.....because the other day you told me you wanted just that.  We love you more than you will ever know.  Happy 7th birthday Kingston.

Open House

Natalie and I took Kingston to his open house for 1st grade.  We got to meet his teacher, Ms. Missman.  She will be getting married soon, so her name will change again.  Kingston practiced all day saying her name- he struggled with that one.  He was excited to get all his school supplies in the right bins. After seeing the classroom and getting organized, we headed outside for a snow cone.  Kingston got to pick his flavors- he settled for 4 different flavors.  While eating it, he ended up wearing Natalie's sunglasses. I couldn't help but get a picture of it.  He's Mr. Cool- or so he thinks.

1st day of 1st Grade

I met Kingston for his first day of 1st grade.  He has Ms. Missman this year.  We worked all day the day before learning how to say her name.  He has a missing bottom tooth and loved the way the "s" sounds in her name.  I told him he'd better smile for pictures because if he didn't, I'd kiss him on the lips in front of all his friends.  At school that morning he was all grins sporting his Jurassic Park backpack.  He looks so grown up.  He told me he knew where his classroom was and we took off.  On the way to the classroom, I told him I had my chapstick on and was ready for a kiss.  He just grinned and rolled his eyes.  It didn't take him long to sit down and start coloring.  I'm excited to see where 1st Grade takes him.

Kindergarten Graduation Day

After the end of the year party, Kingston asked if he could spend the night with us.  On the way home, we went to Walmart to get him some dress shoes and a belt.  He asked if he could get a toy if he was good.  I reminded him that he was expected to be good regardless if he got a toy or not.  However, we might take a spin through the toys.  After finding him some shoes and a belt, I ran through the boys shirt section.  I asked him if he saw any shirt that he liked.  He immediately picked this red one.  I asked him why he liked it- he said, "Because red is my favorite color and it was Daddy's too."  So of course, we bought that one.  He picked 2 new beyblades to play with.  I told him that was his graduation present from us.  He didn't know you got graduation presents and was impressed.  He later asked Uncle Luke if you graduated from 1st grade too. LOL!  That night Kingston wanted Tacos and Chip and Dip for supper- so that's what he got.  We ended the night by watching the Pioneer Woman while eating cupcakes and cookies.

The next morning, we got all dressed and he had Fruit Loops for breakfast. On the way to school, we talked about graduation.  He asked if I had ever graduated before and I told him yes.  I told him that when I was in the 12th grade I had to give a speech.  He looked surprised and asked me if he was going to have to do that.  I told him no, that he would just get up there and sing and that'd be it.  He asked me numerous times if he looked nice- he was so nervous.  I had to call Luke on the way and inform him that the Kindergarten Graduate asked for Chicken Mini's for breakfast too.  We stopped at Chick Fila on the way to get that baby some chicken mini's.

Graduation was fun.  It was so neat to see all his classmates get their diplomas.  I feel like I know all these kids so well by being up there all school year.  Of course, Mrs. Atwood has been a fantastic teacher for Kingston and I'm so blessed she let me help as much as I could this year.  Somehow though, I couldn't help but miss Chris today.  He would have been all smiles for sure.  Bring on 1st Grade!

End of the year Party

Ms. Atwood's class voted on the end of the year party food.  The kids decided they wanted cupcakes, pizza, and fruit.  After making the picture backdrop for the party, I went and picked up all the goodies.  Poor Kingston was the only one who voted on his favorite, "chip and dip."  The kids had fun having a picnic on the floor as our chairs were in the gym set up for graduation.  Ms. Atwood gave each class member an award.  Kingston won the Math Wizard award because he's great at Math.  Aunt Issa is kinda jealous of that one- I hate math!  It was a great last party of the year.
