What happened to Manners????

The saga continues again with our little neighbor children. It started this afternoon with them deciding to play on our front porch....because they liked to play hide and seek and get Madison to bark at them. Well after I ran them off 3 TIMES from OUR front porch....they preceded to climb the fence in their backyard. I guess they didn't think Samson our 90 lb. dog would be a problem. So, I did the neighborly thing and put my dogs in the house for their bedtime. That didn't really bother me.

What DID bother me was the little thug...I mean child....climbed the fence again. I told him to get down that he would hurt himself (and thinking to myself....I don't want you to get hurt in my yard!!!)...he says, "I need my ball." I told him he could go around front, knock on the door, and ask for it back. Then, I got my other shoe on and grabbed the ball (no small task for me since it was at the top of the hill) and met him at the front door. That little nut didn't even say THANK YOU!!!! I told him, "You're Welcome" thinking he just somehow forgot those 2 little words. Nope sure didn't! He walked right off and said NOTHING!!!

So next time, he won't get the ball back without a THANK YOU!!! What happened to parent's teaching their kids simple manners like: thank you, yes ma'am, no ma'am, you're welcome! What is our world coming too??? OK, I'm off my soapbox...just had to vent!!!

What happened to manners? Probably the same thing that happened to responsible parenting and responsible pet ownership. People are lazy and selfish.

We actually have to take Sasha to the neighborhood across the main road to get a good walk because so many people on our side of the road just let their dogs roam free. (There is a leash law for a reason, people!) I've confronted most of them about it, and they always say, "Oh my dog won't hurt you." Not the point! I don't know that. And, more importantly, my dog doesn't know that. When your dog comes running up to her and she goes in the defensive mode, we are going to have a problem regardless of your dog's intentions.

YOUR MOMMA SAYS:
AMEN to what David said!!! I love children - we had 2 - you and Chris.

BUT you can bet you bottom dollar that you and Chris would have gotten your rear-ends tore up if you had done what that kid did!!!!

People today think that it is harmful to make kids mind...they seem to think that kids OUT OF CONTROL is NOT their responsibility!

And yes, I agree with David, too, about dogs on leashes. We have the SAME issue here - people across the street have a HUGE fenced in back yard but will NOT keep that vicious dog back there. He's come across the street and attacked me and my SadieRose in OUR YARD while she is ON A LEASH about 7 times now. If he got a good hold of her, he would kill her.

We told the neighbors over and over to keep him put up but they just laugh and say "Tucker is just being protective of HIS property!" BUT MY YARD AND DRIVEWAY IS NOT HIS PROPERTY!!!!!

I love kids...but parents...PLEASE make your children mind! They are NOT the center of the universe for everyone else!!!! You're doing a real injustice to your kids by NOT making them mind.

Mel - maybe a little water hose "squirt" when the kid is climbing on the fence would keep him off of it! If he falls OVER the fence, breaks his arm in YOUR yard, you can BET that some sleezy ambulance chasing attorney will sue you and Luke for everything!

OK..off of my soapbox but stuff like this really irritates me!!!! People like this give good parents that are really trying to make decent citizens out of their children a bad name! There ARE lots of good parents out there for sure....

your mother is right about that...why not try and electric fence :) Just kidding, I have two children also, but part of raising them right is teaching them to have manners. We make Brylane and Brecca on a daily basis say please and thanks you...yes sir no sir, yes mama no mama...all that stuff because as far as I am concerned my children will not act that way and if they do, their bottoms will fill it!
